7 Musts For Successful Video Calls

7 Musts For Successful Video Calls

Video calls have become the new norm in our Covid era and they are only bound to get more prevalent in all our lives. Having strong video skills is becoming a must. Here are 7 quick tips to make sure you are creating the best experience with your video conversations.

1 - Find your angle! Practice with your webcam before you start your meeting. Know the best views of yourself and be sure you are in a comfortable and clean space. Angles going up to down will be the most flattering.

2 - Be mindful of your posture. You want to convey confidence and self-assurance. Sit up straight and try not to fidget.

3 - Stay in one spot, do not move from room to room. Unless this is part of your presentation, it’s distracting.

4 - Keep strong eye contact. Even with the computer, this is important to remember. The best way to maintain good eye contact is to look directly into the camera. Keep your eye on that green dot.

5 - Many of us have a variety of applications open on our computer at once. When starting a video conversation, close all your applications that will cause any dinging noise on your computer.

6 - If you are going into a presentation, interview or important meeting over video, it is best to deal with pets, kids or other potential distractions and accommodate in the best way possible before beginning.

7 - Do not bring your computer with you to the bathroom. If doing so is imperative then make sure your video and microphone are both turned off!

Wishing you the most successful video calls possible!
